À Orléans, alors qu'il est en train d'arrêter deux malfaiteurs, le commissaire Ferrot est photographié par une jeune femme. Quelque temps plus tard, il découvre son portrait dans la vitrine d'une boutique. Il demande à la photographe, Sylvia Leopardi, de lui donner les clichés.
